Quotes from existing
members
“Being a member of OSCASA has proven to be of benefit to Xtreme Characters,
even in these early formative days. Our agency has been able to hold production companies to
agreements, and have had stronger negotiating power when setting rates” “OSCASA has give
Xtreme Characters the strength to operate as an industry player rather than a standalone
agency” Wayne Watson - Xtreme Characters
“CENTRAL CASTINGS has been in business since
1991 and over the years supported several attempts to form an industry body to represent
casting agencies. With the formation of OSCA this has finally become a reality. For the first
time in over a decade, the management of competing casting agents are meeting on a regular
basis and working together to establish industry norms which benefit not only themselves, but
also the talent they represent and the production companies which they supply on a daily
basis. This positive development has led to the adoption of a set of standards regarding
working conditions, terms of business and rates by OSCA members which has already been
accepted by the CPA, with other industry bodies to follow. For CENTRAL CASTINGS this makes
doing business with CPA members far easier, as for the first time casting agencies and
production companies are on the same page when it comes to the issues like overtime, daily
rates, and standards of supply. 18 of the 22 casting agencies in Cape Town are OSCA members.
By supporting OSCA member agencies and refusing to do business with non-compliant
non-members, production companies are sending out a strong message that in future they want
to do business in a professional, self-regulated environment. With the formation of OSCA the
professionalism of the casting industry has become a reality - just in time for what looks
like a turnaround for the commercial production industry for 2005/2006.” Derek - Central
Castings
“OSCA SA brought clarity and with this decision making is made easier. Rules
help to clarify the production process, all parties involved know the guidelines and there
are no "surprises" and no "we did not know" and no "who is paying for this"
OSCA SA helps
eliminating fly-by-night agencies who are not playing rules, are not mad about the industry,
but are only just there to make a quick buck.
OSCA SA gives talent knowledge: knowing the
rules means acting professionally.
Having a background artiste who knows what his tasks
are, makes operations easy for production as well as agency.
These guidelines open up a
professional attitude for the future. We will be able to offer international standards to our
international clients in complying with a) legislation of our country and B) rules specific
to the industry.
We are busy creating talent which is now suitable for the movie industry
more than ever, talent which is motivated, because they know their rights.
Suddenly
respect has emerged between all parties involved, where might have been missing
before.
For Faces4Film it is an honor to be recognized as part of OSCA SA.” Petra –
Face4Film
“Since it inception OSCASA members have as a group, been instrumental in
curbing exploitation of our artiste, in one form or another. We have all benefited as a group
when it comes to the workings of the Tax system and other Laws pertaining to our industry."
Gary - Limelite Casting
“It is reassuring to know that we are all striving to improve
and increase business in the film industry for the benefit of Production down to the Extras”
Theresa - ITZAWRAP
